What Lebron James & the Apostle Paul Have in Common (Pt. 2)

Like Lebron James, the Apostle Paul had one objective in mind--to win the prize and attain the goal. Paul had to move forward and hold on to his determination to believe that winning eternal life meant forgetting what was behind him. We as Christians tend to want to drag things from our past into how we deal with God or we have the mindset that because we believed at one point we're good and so we stop fighting.

To the Apostle Paul, the Christian life had to mean victory and nothing less than that. In this sermon, Pastor Justin Cox continues spelling out the essentials of running and winning the Christian race where he left off last week. So get your spiritual deodorant on and be ready to sweat as you listen.

Is God Really Good?

If God is so good then how come there is so much suffering in the world and in our lives individually? Yet we are told that God is good so either we've been lied to or there is something wrong with our natural understanding of God's goodness.

In this sermon, Pastor Justin Cox brings a very valuable sermon about the things we blame God for that aren't His fault and gives a good explanation about some of the frustrations we meet with day-to-day as Christians. This sermon gives light to the reasons for the things God wants us to do and why we don't want to do them.

Too often we put qualities and characteristics on God that do not really belong to Him. Is God really behind all the rules that we place on ourselves or is it our own doing? Hopefully this sermon encourages you to trust God's judgments rather than your own.

How You Suffer Sends People a Message

Sometimes we as Christians may not realize that what we say and do sends a message to people about who and what we are. This is especially true when we go through trials because in trials we show everyone, including God and ourselves, not only what we are made of but where our confidence is.

A Christian is supposed to go through trials differently from everyone else, but we often find ourselves scared so God can't use us to send the world a message about His faithfulness. Pastor Cox challenges us not to be "ska-er-da" in the midst of opposition because it's through opposition we find a closer walk with God and we give the world a stronger testimony of His goodness.

The Great Expectation: God Expects you to Win - June 22, 2008

I have to say: I've been soooo hype to get this podcast out to you all!  This is definitely a message that the Body of Christ needs to hear.

When God wrote Christianity HE WROTE VICTORY, NOT DEFEAT!  However, most Christians have been taught that they are defeated before they even try to live for God.  Have you ever heard this: "aww, we all fall short" or "we won't be holy 'til we enter glory" or "God know's you're going to sin?" MAN! Where's the hope?!?  When you look in the Bible you don't see this type of talk, you see examples of victory.  Look at King David, when he trusted in the Lord, he was always victorious in battle.  The woman that had been bleeding, EXPECTED that when she touched just the hem of Christ's garment she would have victory over her disease.

How can we have victory over sin if we don't expect victory? We know more about what to do when we sin, than what to do to keep us from sinning.   It's so sad, before people even trying to live for the Lord they are already content with coming in 2nd or 3rd place. They don't know that God expects us to come in 1st place - to have the victory.

The amazing thing about God is that HE GIVES US HIS POWER, HIS SPIRIT, WHICH ENABLES US TO GET THE VICTORY!  Pastor Cox shows you how the very Word of God breaks the chains of defeatism in the Christian's life and gives us His Spirit to overcome our flesh, the world, and the evil one.  Amen!
