Who Are You Living to Worship? Pt. 2

ss132 pic by you.

What are we living for? Are we even consciously aware of it? It is so easy to become so caught up in the day-to-day that we cease to really deliberately choose Christ. As a result many of us find ourselves actually living for many other things not only in our actions but in the reasons behind our actions.

In this sermon, Minister Chris Davis continues discussing the importance of God's ownership of our lives by addressing the part of us that only we and God see--our hearts. This is a very challenging message because it confronts the inner life and digs at the root of our behaviors, and is sure to bring conviction along with it. Be blessed and challenged as you listen. (Note: the first few minutes were not recorded so bear with it, as you may be lost for the first few seconds.)

Who Are You Living to Worship?

We as human beings seem to have something inside us that longs to worship. There is something about us that makes us want to find something we can be obsessed with or consumed by. Sadly, so many people, even within the church, find something other than God to set their affections on--a job, a relationship, or even works they're doing for God.

In this message, Minister Chris Davis teaches us that worship is more than just lifting our hands during a worship session but that it is attached a lifestyle of love and devotion that comes from gratitude for what Christ has done in the Christian's life. This is a good message to use to examine whether you're heart is really devoted entirely to God or if there are other things that compete with your affections for Him.

How to Resist Being Recruited to Become a Dog

It is easy to get so caught up with what you are doing for Christ that you forget to see that it should all come from the finished work of what Christ did for you. If we do not recognize this fact, we're likely to start trying to work FOR salvation rather than FROM salvation.

In this sermon Pastor Justin Cox compares physical circumcision to spiritual circumcision and preaches on the dangers of adding on to what Christ has already done. Paul calls such people, who exalt something other than Christ for salvation and recruit others to their way of thinking, "dogs." It is easy to become a "dog" if you're not rooted and trusting solely in what Christ has done to save you from sin. This sermon is a real "treat" for me. I hope you enjoy it!

Somebody Needs to Know You Care

In life it is very easy to get caught up with the day-to-day drama and forget that there are people around us that are hurting as much or more than we are and are in need of the love of Christ. Everyone wants to receive love but nobody is brave enough to actually give love in more than a cursory way.

In Paul's letter to the Philippians there is an obscure character named Epaphroditus which was honored for his example of self sacrifice--even to the point of death--for both Paul and the church. In this sermon Pastor Cox discusses Epaphroditus and the lessons of love we can learn as we look into the lives of believers in the early church.

What Kind of T-Cell Are You to Christ's Body?

Your body needs its immune system at all times. That means that no part of immune system can take a day off because if it does you may die. But what if your t-cells--cells designed to attack and destroy viruses--not only decide they need a break but even want to start attacking the other parts of your immune system. Sadly there are several illnesses that create this exact problem.

In the body of Christ we have similar problems. Some of us may be doing a great amount of harm to Christ's body by wanting to lay down our weapons against the enemy or wanting to attack those people in the body that are not our enemies. In this sermon Pastor Cox levels with the congregation with some funny personal examples on these very serious topics. Be encouraged as you listen.

Jesus Christ State of Mind pt. 2

It is clear in scripture that we are supposed to imitate Christ by being of the same mind as Christ. But what was Christ's mindset?

In this sermon Pastor Justin Cox gives us a few ideas as to what the mind of Christ really was, and compares true humility with false humility. Listen in on this sermon from Phil. 2, it is sure to inspire you to walk in Christ's mindset.

This is Love

It is really easy to fall in love but but the real work in a relationship begins when all the feelings wear off.  There has to be agape love that runs deeper than just emotions. You may have feelings for someone but will your feelings last through the regular times or the tough times? How do you know your love for that person is biblical?

In this sermon, Minister TQ gives some good tips for both men and women while they're considering the pursuit of any kind of relationship from friendship to dating to marriage.  What qualities should you look for to ensure that your relationship will withstand the test of time and the scrutiny of scripture. It is crucial that all of our relationships be centered around Christ and His unconditional agape love or else they will invariably end with undesirable effects.

What's Love Got to Do With It?

Sadly, often times when Christian singles start feeling lonely we tend to behave like the world in the way in which we pursue relationships. Instead of looking to God to complete us we run hard after another person to find fulfillment there. Perhaps it is because we don’t really know how to handle being in a relationship as a Christian so we may carry into a relationship the same practices we had in the world.

In this message Minister TQ shares the very sobering dangers of awaking love before its time and gives us three biblical principles to tell if a relationship is moving too fast, using his personal experiences to bring the point home. This is a very insightful and refreshing view of the dating process and is even helpful for a single person that may consider being in a relationship any time soon.

How to Ensure Your Dedication Doesn't Suck

If you've ever seen someone on the side of the road in a Statue of Liberty costume to advertise for an organization, you may have noticed how committed they are to their jobs. They ought to make us question just how dedicated we are to God. Are we as unashamed to represent Christ as they are to represent the company they work for?

We ought to have more dedication to Christ than to anything in our lives because of what He has done for us. We should be down for whatever God may have for us. Pastor Justin Cox gives us three principles to apply to our lives to ensure that our dedication to Christ won't suck. This is a helpful and very practical message to believers.

One Thing I Have Against You - 11 Oct 2009

It is easy to say you love God, but what kind of love do you have for Him. It's almost too easy to get caught up with ministry or with everyday activities, and all the routine that we walk away from Christ, and miss the whole point of why we are even called to ministry in the first place. In this message Minister Jose Palos brings us back to the one most important fact of the Christian life, namely that the most important thing to God isn't the amount of things we do for Him or how much we talk about God, or how much we agree with what God says, but the most important thing to God is how much we value what He did for us and our relationship with Him. This message will bless you as Minister Palos pours out his heart, encouraging you to love Christ with a pure love.
