Three Kinds of People Not to Follow on Twitter

photo

One of the things that seems to represent status in our generation is who has the most people following them on twitter. But there are certain people that you know that, if people were to find out you were following them, it would ruin your reputation--bad influences.

Well in this sermon Pastor Justin Cox discusses three different kinds of people that we should not follow in this world--discussing the extremes of those that are leaning on their own understanding, from the legalist to the sinner wanting the reputation of being a Christian. This message is good for all those that are struggling to give God their hearts.

Who Are You Living to Worship? Pt. 2

What are we living for? Are we even consciously aware of it? It is so easy to become so caught up in the day-to-day that we cease to really deliberately choose Christ. As a result many of us find ourselves actually living for many other things not only in our actions but in the reasons behind our actions.

In this sermon, Minister Chris Davis continues discussing the importance of God's ownership of our lives by addressing the part of us that only we and God see--our hearts. This is a very challenging message because it confronts the inner life and digs at the root of our behaviors, and is sure to bring conviction along with it. Be blessed and challenged as you listen. (Note: the first few minutes were not recorded so bear with it, as you may be lost for the first few seconds.)

Who Are You Living to Worship?

We as human beings seem to have something inside us that longs to worship. There is something about us that makes us want to find something we can be obsessed with or consumed by. Sadly, so many people, even within the church, find something other than God to set their affections on--a job, a relationship, or even works they're doing for God.

In this message, Minister Chris Davis teaches us that worship is more than just lifting our hands during a worship session but that it is attached a lifestyle of love and devotion that comes from gratitude for what Christ has done in the Christian's life. This is a good message to use to examine whether you're heart is really devoted entirely to God or if there are other things that compete with your affections for Him.

Top 7 Reasons Why People Hate God - 23 Aug 2009

There are certain things about God that just get under people's skin. Did you know that God insists on being God all the time? Did you know that God will not change His opinions? God has certain qualities about Him that make a lot of enemies. God has a lot of haters. Some of them are open about their hatred toward Him but many are subtle about their feelings.

If you've ever known someone that has acted like he was your friend when you were present but talked smack about you when your back was turned then God can relate to you. Often times people claim to know Christ and to love Him when they're in the house of God and in an attitude of worship, but in the way they live their lives they tell God that they hate Him. The strangest thing of all is that many of these haters actually hate God without even knowing it. If, in your mind, you're thinking, "That ain't me! I don't hate anything about God," then hold on tight as Pastor Cox preaches about the seven characteristics of God that, in his experience, appear to be the things that people hate most and why.

This is a potentially painful message, as Pastor Cox shares some of God's ways and the Holy Spirit unveils how you really feel toward God and His ways, but it is also a very timely message and even rewarding to those who will be honest enough with themselves and receive it.

Does Your Life Show You Believe? - 1 June 2008

Most likely you've heard the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, but you've never heard it like this.

The Israelites (also known as the Hebrews) were slaves in Babylon when the three Hebrews boys got an opportunity to be more than that.  Most people in this situation would be so grateful for the opportunity that they would do anything to stay in the king's good graces.  However, the Hebrew boys made a resolve to live for God like the covenant was never broken.  Even though it looked like God had forsaken them they still made a resolve to serve only Him.  And they took that resolve all the way into the fire where Christ was right there to protect them.

It was their lifestyle that showed their obedience to God - not their lips.  Listen as Pastor Cox pushes you to look at your life and see if your life shows that you believe in Jesus Christ who will be there to save you too when you forsake fame, notariety and position in this life for a life lived sold out to your Savior.
