How You Suffer Sends People a Message
Submitted by Layman on Sun, 02/21/2010 - 12:00.
Sometimes we as Christians may not realize that what we say and do sends a message to people about who and what we are. This is especially true when we go through trials because in trials we show everyone, including God and ourselves, not only what we are made of but where our confidence is.
A Christian is supposed to go through trials differently from everyone else, but we often find ourselves scared so God can't use us to send the world a message about His faithfulness. Pastor Cox challenges us not to be "ska-er-da" in the midst of opposition because it's through opposition we find a closer walk with God and we give the world a stronger testimony of His goodness.
Paul's Letter to Philippi

A tree that is half covered in fruit or leaves and is half naked just doesn’t look right. Why does one side seem dead and the other seem alive? The same is true spiritually. Often times people may appear to trust Christ in one area and find strength in that area but when it comes to being submitted in every area, well…let’s just say there are some bald spots.
When we have areas in our lives that we know are not lining up with His Word we often will seek comfort in scriptures that talk about God accepting us when we’ve fallen or we will become anxious and start trying to fix those areas and we fail to realize that all the power of the Christian life comes from the grace of God because of our faith in Christ.
This is a short message that is a little more like a teaching than the ordinary message preached by Pastor Cox. In this sermon we are encouraged to “tap into” Christ where all the power, joy, and fullness of the Christian life are found.
