I Have to be Drunk to Do This - 27 July 2008

If you've ever been drunk or know someone that has been, then you know some of the effects of drinking. Many times people make decisions that they don't even remember in the morning.
Unfortunately, this happens a lot in the church as well. Statistics show that although there are thousands of people coming to Christ every year, nearly 90% go back on their decision. Sometimes people decide to become a Christian influenced by their emotions. Maybe the choir was powerful that particular Sunday. Maybe they just broke up with their girlfriend/boyfriend, or got fired from their job and was in a funk. Whatever the case, it caused them to make a profession of faith without counting the cost.
We put ourselves in an unstable walk when we base our relationship with Christ off of our feelings - which are constantly going up and down. There are some Christians that cannot walk with God without having some kind of emotional stimulus. Like the drunkard, we say to Christ, "Unless I'm emotionally high I can't mess with you."
Listen as Pastor Cox takes us through the scriptures to show us how Christ wants us to use sound judgement when making a decision to live for Him. Christ wants his disciples to reason with a sober mind before committing to Him because He expects us to finsh the race, to endure to the end. Do you have to be drunk to be with Christ? This sermon will definitely sober you up.
